Visualiser Guide

How to get started and get the most out of BeatVault Visualiser on Windows. Something not working? See Help, or email hello@beatvaultapp.com.

Getting started

Install and first start
  1. Get BeatVault Visualiser from the Microsoft Store and open it. Everything works free for 14 days.
  2. Read the photosensitivity warning and click I understand. It only shows once.
  3. Under Playback device, pick what you hear your music through: speakers, headphones, TV, USB or Bluetooth device, or your DJ controller.
  4. Optional: under Microphone, pick a mic so the visuals react to your voice too. Windows asks your permission first. Use Gain to set how strongly it moves the visuals.
  5. Click Start. Play some music and the preview starts moving.

The top left shows how many trial days are left. Click it any time to buy a licence or get help.

What the buttons along the top do
  • Mute (next to a device): stops that device moving the visuals. Your speakers and mic aren't affected.
  • Cog (next to a device): opens Windows sound or microphone settings.
  • Refresh devices: use it after plugging in a new speaker, headset or mic.
  • Font size: makes the app's text bigger or smaller.
  • ? (Help and support): your Machine ID, these help pages and email support.
  • The BeatVault logo opens this website.

Showing the visuals

Full screen on this PC

Double-click the preview to fill the screen. Double-click again, or press Esc, to come back.

On a second screen, TV or projector
  1. Connect the screen or projector and set Windows to Extend the display (Windows key + P).
  2. Under the look you want, find For a second screen, TV or projector and click Open. It opens in your web browser with a black background.
  3. Drag that window onto the second screen, then double-click it or press F11 for full screen.

Keep the Visualiser open with Start pressed: the browser window gets the music from it.

In OBS, Streamlabs, XSplit or vMix
  1. Under the look you want, find For OBS and other streaming apps and click Copy.
  2. In your streaming app, add a Browser source and paste the link as its URL. Set the size to match your canvas, for example 1920 by 1080.
  3. The background is see-through, so you can put the visuals over a camera, a game or an image.

Keep the Visualiser open with Start pressed while you stream. If the source goes blank, see Help.

Effects and colours

Adding and layering effects

The effects list is on the left. Tick an effect to add it; tick several to layer them. Most effects show their own settings when ticked, such as size, speed, direction or colour.

Effects marked with * react to the music; the others move on their own.

Colours, the eyedropper and saved schemes
  • Main palette: the colours for bass, mid, treble and peaks. Click a colour box to change it.
  • Eyedropper: in the colour window, use the eyedropper to copy a colour from anywhere on your screen, such as your logo.
  • Beat flash adds a flash of colour on the beat. Monochrome turns everything black and white.
  • Saved colour schemes: type a name and click Save to keep your colours, then pick it later to switch back. Reset all colours returns to the defaults.

Effect packs

Trying and buying an effect pack

Effect packs, like Halloween, Infinite Loops and Winter Festive, add extra effects. Each pack in the effects list shows where it stands:

  • ⏱ Try free or the time left: tick any of its effects to start a free 48-hour trial. You can try packs during your 14-day app trial too.
  • 🛒 Get: buy the pack. Packs add on to the full Visualiser, so if you haven't bought the Visualiser yet, Get explains that and offers it first.
  • A green ✓ after the pack name: the pack is yours.

After you pay, keep the Visualiser open: the pack unlocks by itself within a minute. If a trial runs out while one of its effects is on screen, it carries on until you switch it off, so your show is never cut.

Licence and support

Buying the Visualiser
  1. Click the trial text at the top left (or ?), then Buy a licence. The checkout opens in your browser.
  2. Pay. Your Machine ID is sent with the order automatically.
  3. Leave the Visualiser open. Within a minute it unlocks by itself and the top left shows Licensed to your name. If it was closed, it unlocks the next time you open it.

It's a one-off payment for this PC, with no subscription.

Moving to a new PC or reinstalling Windows

A licence belongs to one PC. Reinstalling the app on the same PC keeps it. For a new PC or a fresh Windows install, email us your old and new Machine IDs (click ? in the app to see it) and we'll move your licence.

Refunds and getting help

Refunds within 14 days, no questions asked: email hello@beatvaultapp.com. For help, click ? in the app, then Help pages or Email support, and include your Machine ID.
